it’s been a few days since i have talked to you so i will try and update you on what i have been up to.  mommy and i are now feeding 4 times a day and the other 4 i get from my tube.  she stays and does my 9 pm feeding so it’s harder for her to help me write at night because i’m so tired afterward.  we are making progress with my feedings though so it is worth it.  i am up to 4 lbs 7 oz now and have been steadily gaining weight since the last time i talked to you.  the other day mommy had a rough day because the lactation consultant said that i wasn’t getting as much milk from her as she thought i was.  this hurt mommy because she thought i was doing well.  my doctor said that it doesn’t matter exactly how much i am getting from mommy as long as i keep gaining weight.  as you can see, i have had no problem with that.  feeding is not easy for preemies so we are both getting used to that.

i am now down to only 30% (ish) oxygen with 1/2 liter of air.  this is the blend of oxygen that i need to help me breathe.  i was stuck at 40% for awhile but i’m now making progress.  the goal is to get me to room air (21%).  once that happens they will adjust my flow to 1/4 liter.

on thursday night daddy was on call and he had to come in and take care of someone at the hospital so he slept with me the rest of the night.  shortly after he got there everything began to shake.  daddy thought one of the nurses was shaking his bed.  :)   he told me that we must have had an earthquake.  i told him he must have brought it back with him from california.  i think mommy and lexi were a little scared at home but i wasn’t, i was a big girl….actually, i slept right through it.  i was really tired that night because mommy and i stayed up late.  she gave me my bath.  i LOVED it.  i was wide awake smiling for the whole thing.  she tried to take a picture of me without any of my wires on but her camera quit.  here I am right before my bath though.  check out my rolls.  ;)

6a00d8341ce43053ef00e551eb957f883_2 i must get really cozy with dad because i always sleep like this when he holds me. i’m still good at catchin’ flies i guess.

mommy is getting ready to read me a book before she feeds me so i need to get going.  before i go i want to say hi to everyone in kansas especially my ba-pa and ga-ga.  i love you.

Daddies definitely do have that magical, sleepy touch! My girls always fall asleep in Daddy’s arms, after flopping around in my arms! Isn’t that funny?!

Glad to hear the earthquake was not detrimental and that you’re growing!!!

You are really growing fast now. You got to feel what an earthquake is like already and your bapa and gaga have never felt one. We don’t know whether we want to! I’m glad you were so brave.
Your cousins Kessa, Sephine and Chilton helped us work at the farm today. Beal didn’t get to because he’s so little. Hope to see you soon.

We love you and mommy and daddy too!

We are still praying for you every day. Your big 3 year old cousin, Chilton, makes sure that all of us include you in our prayers. He prays like this “Jesus….Adali be safe…Daddy be safe…Mommy be safe…all my friends be safe…my family be safe…amen.” and is the prayer police for us as well.

We love you and can’t wait to see you again.
