before i begin with our halloween review 09 edition does anyone know where the saying "trick-or-treat smell my feet, give me something good to eat" saying came from?  curiosity has struck me again and i must know.

halloween this year was!  i mean last year was fun but this year was really, really fun.  it's a crap shoot on whether a 19 month old will even wear the costume…especially one with a big floppy head piece or whether they will freak out at other people's scary costumes or whether they will even grasp the concept of ringing some strangers door bell saying some funny blurb of words and getting a sugary treat in return, but adali loved every bit of it even if she didn't quite understand it all.

and without further ado, i give you the cutest elephant in all the land…

Halloween-2 Halloween-100

seriously, you can't argue how stinkin' cute she is…

oh…do you see kitty in her pumpkin?  she couldn't leave the house without her.

we headed up to the neighborhood halloween festival to give adali a chance to see other kids dressed up and let her play some of the games they had set up.  she didn't really understand the exact concept of any of the games, but she sure had fun doing her own thing with what they had set up.

she loved just walking around and taking it all in…

she was so excited to get in on the action and have some fun on the playground goodies…

after the halloween festival we went back home for some rest time before trick-or-treating.  it was also, obviously time for picking tomatoes with daddy in our snow boots (it was 84 degrees out mind you)…

Halloween-89  Halloween-91

after a little break, we headed out for a little bit of trick-or-treating (like 2 houses).  our neighbors informed us they had a little treat for adali so we stopped by their house first.

it was then time to head home and check out the loot…

…and to hit the sack…this little elephant was exhausted. i think both elephant and kitty would consider halloween 2009 a smashing success.

we all (kitty, pig and tinkerbell included) hope everyone had a great halloween!

much love,

mama a and her beautiful little elephant

    how stinking cute!
her costume is great! and looks like a good time was had by all!

I can only imagine what kind of hell would have erupted if i would have suggested to KT that she put something on that involved such a large head piece… wow.
    Good for you Adali!

I love the last picture of Adali! She looks so cute. Did you have that costume made? Looks like you had alot of fun and an exciting day!

  3. She is so adorable! I was going to ask what Tiffany did…where did you get such a cute costume?

It’s so cute, too, that kitty goes everywhere with her (do you have a spare in case kitty runs away at the grocery store? I bought a backup for JH’s puppy because he loves him and would be devastated without him!).

    tiffany and nicole,

it looks handmade doesn’t it? i wish i was one of those moms who can have a handmade costume for adali every year but i’m not so i was happy when i found something that looked handmade. i fell in love with this costume when my mom sent me the link to a website with costumes that were on super sale….way back in july. i added the pink bow around the ear so i wouldn’t have to hear how cute “he” was all night. it worked.

i am keeping it so if anyone ever wants to borrow it in the future, you are more than welcome to.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that starts planning Halloween in July! (or that is homemade-costume-challenged!)

    Such a sweet Elephant!
