 Hair collage

i need to brain dump stuff stored in my head waiting for the perfect creative post.  clearly, creative posts won't be happening this week.  so, let's get started shall we…

**  adali seems to be fairing better today, although, i'm afraid by even typing those words i have jinxed the turnaround.

** last week the little lovebug weighed 21 pounds 8 ounces.  i was tha-rilled with that weight.  on monday adali weighed 20 pounds 8 ounces (and now weighs even less than that).  i swear it's like chutes and ladders.  you get so.close to the top and then just like that you get knocked back down to the bottom.  1 pound may not seem like a lot but when you have been working so hard for months to get her to gain as much as she can, it sucks to go backwards that much in a matter of days.  plus, one reason that it takes her so long to recover from illnesses like the one that hit her this week is because she has so little reserve.

** on a better note, she measured 31.5 inches long which puts her in the 7th percentile for height.  holla!  i was pretty excited about that.

** the dogwoods are in bloom here.  enough said.

** adali is realllly close to being able to count to 10.  so cute to hear her say the numbers.  she has started to show interest in the alphabet but every letter is currently "w."  it's funny to ask her what letter something is and hear her say in a sing songy voice, "doubllllle u."  she loves to learn so my parents got her a kit called "teach my toddler" for christmas.  she begs to get it out every day so we can go through the activities.  i would highly recommend it for kids who are eager to learn.

** unfortunately, adali being sick has set us back in the "getting rid of paci's" department.  we are traveling next week and for the sanity of the other passengers on the plane, i may need to put this off until we get back. sigh.

** some of my favorite things that adali currently says:

oop (i have no idea why she chooses to leave the "s" off)

oppsey daisy

ohhhh myyyy goooodness – this one came out a lot when she was opening her birthday gifts.  she has the whole act surprised thing going on for sure.

hold you mama

when you ask her if she wants lunch, dinner, her milk she will look at you and in the saddest most pathetic voice she will say, "allwhite (alright)."

oh, it's cute (talking about the outfit i pick out for her to wear in the morning)

mmm.  yummy, yummy

** adali favors her left hand when coloring.  do kids usually pick a dominant hand by this age?  will we have a southpaw?

** i had mexican for lunch before falling ill last week.  if you know me, this is a very bad thing.  you see, mexican is pretty much it's own food group for me.  it's all i eat.  i now look in the pantry and find nothing of interest.  i know it was no fault of the food that i got sick but i'm hoping this negative reinforcement it has bestowed upon me will pass soon.  otherwise, i may seriously waste away.

** have you heard all of the hoopla surrounding the man whore tiger woods making his golf comeback right here in augusta for the masters?  i have a feeling it's going to turn this town into a circus.  i mean i've heard the masters already does turn this town into a circus but this is going to take it to another level…and i'm happy to report that i will be smack dab in the middle of said circus.  jastin and i are fortunate enough to be able to attend a practice round for the masters.  word on the street is that the practice rounds are more fun than the days of the actual tournament.  i'm so excited!

** keeping with the sports talk i've got going on here, next weekend is one of my favorites of the entire year.  march madness.  it's when you get to turn on the tv at any point throughout the day and watch college basketball.  and if you've been following along at all this year, you will notice it looks eerily similar to the year adali was born.  jastin's ku jayhawks are once again ranked number one.  just like when she was in the nicu, i am sure i will be forced to adorn her with blue bows and ku attire and make her the honorary good luck charm for her daddy's chickenhawks, ahem, i mean jayhawks.

update - i just finished watching illinois beat wisconsin as i wrote this post.  this puts them in the tournament as well…watch out, chickenhawks, here come the illini!

** adali's hair seems to finally be growing.  have i just jinxed that as well?

** i want to make a valiant effort at potty training before our time in georgia is up.  does anyone have any good advice or tips?

** i need to finish adali's video from this year and get it posted because before i know it she will be 3.  check back next week for a fun look back at the past year with miss adali grace.

ok, i think that's everything i needed to purge.  have a great weekend everyone!

much love,

mama a

Well Katie got a hair cut today – so we must be making some progress in the hair department too! But she still got called a boy this week – so the hair has a while to go.
