when i was thinking about adali's birthday i didn't really know where to start.  the only thing i knew is that i wanted it to feel incredibly special for her.  she loves decorations for holiday's and gets really sad when we put them away.  i figured i would do my best to come up with some decorations to surprise her with and help make her day that much more special.

one afternoon while adali was napping i put together this digital invitation from pictures i snapped earlier in the day of her being, well, adali and emailed it to our families hoping they could help us celebrate her big day.

i then put together some ideas in my head of decorations i thought would make adali smile.  i don't like to think of myself as crafty but rather resourceful…and maybe a bit of a tight ass.  instead of going to the local party store and buying a bunch of cheap decorations, i wanted to try and create something that could be used again.

like i said, i don't think of myself as crafty so when everything i had envisioned turned out better than i had expected i was really happy with at least giving it the old college try.

here are a bunch of pictures from the party and because i always like to read how people pull off certain projects (especially ones that don't involve a sewing machine) i will post how i did all of them (including adali's shirt) tomorrow.

sara, i did actually learn to sew AND successfully use a sewing machine for one of these projects. however, unlike you i WILL NOT be sewing any clothes anytime soon. i will hire you for that…as long as you are cheap. ;)
